Sir John had brothers William and James. He had two sisters Margaret and Louis Jeana. William died a young man. James also died very young at the age of 7 at the hands of a drunk family friend who was left in charge to baby sit both Sir John and his brother James.

Sir John's father Hugh had brothers Donald, Alexander and William (Uncles to Sir John).

I have a lot of info on teh family. Unfortunatly for me, my stories lead to a dead end for Sir John connection. I found my connection was to John Sandfield MacDonald, first Premier of Ontario.
