My ggrandfather was James MacDonald or Mcdonald b 1860-80 and it was thought he came to Canada with the Hudson Bay Co. and served in Canada and Oregon terretory. Some say he was from the Isles of western Scotland ? ? ? At least one wife was Belinda Gardner and one son was Clinton (my grandfather) born in Minnesota. Clinton had many children and grandchildren and great grandchildren mostly around Seattle, WA. We have searched and searched for records of James - maybe James Clinton M or James Charles M or James Gilbert M or James William M ? ? ?
