When I go to Baltimore in July this year, if Asa was born in Baltimore, VT, they will have the record of his birth along with the name of his parents. From there, we can ascertain which trees on Ancestry are going in the correct direction.
I have found countless trees where EVERYONE just copies someone else's tree and the original was incorrect.
Case in point, I just submitted five applications to DAR to go along with my original. My sponsor found that there are many people who are NOT direct descendants of Ephraim Martin. Ephraim Story Martin had a son Ephraim Story Martin Jr. of whom I am descended. Ephraim's brother ALSO had a son Ephraim Story Martin. People utilized this Ephraim Story Martin as the DIRECT line when in fact he is only a nephew. It took over a year to acquire all the birth records, marriage records, and death records to prove this fact.
If someone does not have a source of credibility, I wouldn't utilize their info until I checked it out myself. It seems there are many Asa Lawrences out there. I DO know that there is an Asa Lawrence that married Betsey (Betsy) Martin as she is Ephraim's daughter and the records are at DAR. This Asa Lawrence was born in VT, probably Baltimore or Springfield.
