Re: 1929 KYDD gravestone in Arbroath, Forfarshire, Scotland
Your George and Margaret Kyd deaths could be for the family below. It would be reasonable to assume that this George is the child of your George Kyd and Ann Gibson. But I have no other information to back this up.
Two names in the family below appear to be in the 1881 census, which I've also included below.
By the way, your email address for Sheila is correct. But when I last wrote her she took several months to repond.

Re: 1929 KYDD gravestone in Arbroath, Forfarshire, Scotland
descendants of Robert Stewart Carmyllie KYDD
Hi Robert,
I am researching this family, to which I am distantly related, as we share a descent from the JOHNSTON family of Lawton, Inverkeilor. According to the will of his grandmother, Mary BELL (widow of Robert KYDD, whose father John KYDD was tenant farmer of Newton of Carmyllie), Robert Stewart Carmyllie was the son of Archibald Bell KYDD and Grace Paton YOUNG. I have not found a birth or a marriage, but the will describes Grace as Robert Bell's wife. Archibald Bell was divorced by his first wife, Georgina Meldrum ROBERTSON, by whom he had a son, Robert Alexander, born Partick, 1892. I haven't accessed the divorce papers (NAS ref CS46/1901/12/60). The index gives a date of Dec 1901 and describes them as "interim decree of divorce and for payment of aliment and expenses", but also mentions decrees of 17.1 and 27.2.1894. Do you have a date of birth for Robert Stewart Carmyllie? In any event, I suspect the divorce was as a result of the birth of Robert Stewart Carmyllie and was not unconnected with Archibald Bell's emigration to South Africa. Newton of Carmyllie was the farm tenanted by Robert Bell's grandfather and earlier antecedents. I know quite a bit about them. Georgina Meldrum ROBERTSON (1864-1932) appears to have married PERT and ended up in Queensland, Australia. Her son also went to Queensland. I haven't found Archibald Bell KYDD, Grace Paton YOUNG and family (or indeed the son by the first marriage) in Scotland in 1911, so wonder if Robert Stewart Carmyllie's emigration was pre-WW1. Mary BELL's will only mentions the 2 Robert grandsons as beneficiaries. I have found no evidence of any other children of Archibald Bell KYDD. I don't think he had any siblings either.
I'd be very pleased to hear from you and learn what you know of the descendants of RSC KYDD.
Regards,
simonf
