Am searching for information on ancestors, siblings, and descendants of Zofi KMETIK, wife of Andrew KUBIK, who was the father of Joseph KUBIK from "Dubova" (near Orava and Liptov counties, could be Valaska' Dubova' or Sedliacka Dubova). Joseph Kubik b. 29 Sep 1878 d. May 1964, was married first to first name unknown, KRATKA, and they had two sons -- Emmanuel (b. 2 Aug 1920, d 23 March 1986) and Frank (b. 27 March 1917 d. October 1981). Emmanual, or Emil, was adopted by his godparents Joseph SHERON (Siron in Slovak) and his wife Anna KRAISCA Sheron when his mom died. We would love to learn more about the KMETIK side of the family. Thanks.

On the off chance you're still around after first posting this message almost 14 years ago (!)...
My maternal 2nd great grandmother's name was Anna Kmetik, wife of Frank Chuberko. Though my family knows little about her, we know she had five children (one being my great grand mother Mary Chuberko/Csubirko/Csubirka, wife of John Opachko/Janos Opacsko and later wife of George Yolich) in 1889. Records on my great grandmother state that she was born in Turya Polyana, Ukraine (Turjamezo, Hungary at the time of her birth).

Whether or not any of this rings a bell, I would like to hear more from you or anyone who is connected to the Kmetik family name. It seems to be an uncommon one, so chances are strong that they're all tied together somehow. Especially since so many wound up living in PA when they first came to the US.
