GEO. JOHNSON PASSES ON YESTERDAY MORNING
George Martin Johnson passed away at 2 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nick Wetzel, of Scotia, after an illness of several weeks duration. Mr. Johnson had lived in this country and this vicinity for almost forty years, and it was with deep regret that his many friends and acquaintances heard of his death.
George Martin Johnson was born on February 8th, 1846, at Brattlebour, Windham County, Vermont, and passed away in Scotia, Nebraska, October 12th 1927, a the age of 81 years, 8 months and 4 days.
At the age of fourteen he moved from Vermont to Dodge county, Wisconsin. On December 25, 1868, he was married to Julietta Evaline Ellis, and to this union five children were born they being: Edson C., of Ericson; Mrs. Nellie Wetzel, of Scotia; Ross W., of Horace; Irving of Horace and Mrs. Rene Flint, of Burwell.
In the year of 1876 they moved to Marshall county, Iowa, where they resided until in 1888 when they moved to Scotia, where Mr. Wetzel (sic) lived until his death.
Besides the five children, there are left 23 grand children and 14 great grand children.
Funeral services are being held this afternoon from the M. E. church.
