I have also been researching the Jeandervine family history. The family lived on the French/Swiss border and settled in Mt. Eaton area of Ohio. They were aristocrats and fled Europe in fear of their lives during the Napoleonic Wars. The three oldest children Louis, Henry, and Sophia stayed in the US but their parents and younger siblings returned to their home in France/Switzerland and were never heard from again. The name of the town in Switzerland was Orvin and the family name is derived from the name Orvin. Check RootsWeb which has the entire family history; I have been in contact with Louis' branch and Sophia's (married Schmidt) branch of the family. My husband is descended from Henry Jeandervine/Jeandrevin who had a son named Charles Elias Jeandervine whose daughter was Florence Grace Jeandervine. Do not let the small variation in spelling worry you. Many early settlers to the US were not able to read or write. Fortunately this family name has changed very little over the years compared to many other names. The branch my husband is related to also lived in the Mishawaka, Indiana area which is near South Bend. They frequently returned to Ohio for visits.
