I'm posting regarding the second husband of my great grandmother, Carl (or Karl?) Janicki.

He was married to my great grandmother, Maria ("Mary") Janicki. (Note that she was also "Maria Horhota" before marrying him.) They lived in St. Catharines, Ontario Canada. In the 1950s or 60s, Carl/Karl went back to the Ukraine to reunite with his daughters and bring them to Canada. Nobody knows what exactly happened, but Baba got a death certificate in the mail. We can only assume he wasn't allowed to return as the Ukraine was under communist rule at the time.

Any information on Carl/Karl would be more than appreciated. I have wondered ever since hearing the story what exactly happened.
