I have seen and actually possessed a photocopy of the land transaction in Hampshire County, WVA (formerly Virginia) between Frederick (Iaac) Ice and Lord Fairfax in the mid-1700s. Throughout the body of the document the family name is spelled Ice, but the signature of Frederick used the family name of Iaac. My research indicates that Iaac was another variation of Eyck and seems to indicate the orginial name was Ten Eyck. The transaction can be found in the Virginia State Library.
