Viola R. Horton, lifelong Cold Spring resident, dies.
Viola R. Horton, 84, of Bunker Hill Road, R. D. 2, Randolph, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, June 4, 1964, in her home. She was the widow of Lynn Horton, who died May 25, 1979. They were married Nov 27, 1919.
She was born June 11, 1899 in Cold Spring, the daughter of Daniel and Jeanette Berray Blood. Ms. Horton was a member of the former Steamburg Free Church and Randolph Grange and a charter member of the Steamburg Grange.
Surviving are a son, Roger Horton, of Randolph; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Cain of Randolph; three foster chidren: Beulah Horton of Depew, Ernest Raymond of Forestville, and John Holliday of Randolph; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p. m. Thursday in Van Rensselaer and Son Funeral Home, Randolph. The Rev. Harley Acker, pastor of Stockton Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Steamburg Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
