My husband's family originated in Ilkeston and includes the HORRIDGE (sometimes ORRIGE, etc)-
Mary HORRIDGE (Orrige on marriage cert) married Francis Hallam in the Parish of Radford, Notts 9 July 1843.
In 1851 they were living in Ilkeston and in census records it states born Ilkeston or Cotmanhay, DBY.
Mary's father was given as Jonathan Orrige, Brick maker.
The Horidge family were shown to be living in Cotmanhay, near Ilkeston in the 1841 Census "Jonothon Horidge" was stated to be 42 a Brickmaker; William 18; Brickmaker; Thomas 20; Brickmaker. Elizabeth (probably his wife) was shown to be 48; Rachel 16 F.W.K.; Ann 14; Hannah 9; Elinor 7 and Esther 6.
