Most I have seen only have others names if they gave permission, like Bettie for Ida. Mary Catherine's family had been at Yell Township, Boone County, Iowa,USA at the same time 1852, they must have 'allowed' her to stay,
WMF was divorce happy, he divorced Vada 2x's. Betties 2nd husband and WMF are seen on documents before their marriage. I will admit what you are thinking crossed my mind, but he attended the wedding party and had his picture taken with Bettie and Pinks parents. That makes me think e acted as a father, most men I don't think would if she wasn't his.
It is Daniel Slane, would be ironic is she did lose both to the Civil War, he has 2 stones his son from his 2nd marriage made Mary Catherine's and Daniel tombstones.
Leatha reportedly was Leatha Elzada her obit list her siblings. That how I just remembered I have your husbands last name.
