I found out my fathers mothers name is Alice May and his fathers name is Chester Lee Roy. My father was born in Johnston, North Carolina and died in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1997. Besides his sisters Thelma and Marie (I am not sure about Marie, I was told my middle name was after her), my father mentioned a brother named Earl. I think he said he had more brothers. That are the only names I remember. My father left when I was 12 and went back to NC.

I was raised in California around my mothers family and only met one of his sisters, Thelma, I think it was in 1996 at his home in Raleigh. I don't know anything about his family except my mother used to call my fathers mother a "squaw". I had a DNA test done and I do have some Native American in me and it is definitely not from my mothers family. My father had very black hair and an olive complexion.

I met a woman years ago in Virginia whose last name was spelled the same as my fathers and her family was from the Goldsboro area and were also tobacco farmers. I tried to talk more with her but she was offended that she might be related to a white person and would not talk to me. My DNA test also showed a small percentage of African which makes sense considering the family was/are tobacco farmers in N.C. Slaves were brought to that area I think in the 1830s to work the farms.

I lived in Wyoming for a short time and while I was there a man was arrested for murder. His last name was Holloman and he was from North Carolina. I always wondered if he was a relative.
