Was John Hites an Alsatian Catholic in France? Jean Heitz or similar spelling? Has anyone traced him in France? (Now I have Alsatian in three lines, one of them Lutheran Palatine.)

Thanks very much for the info. I never would have guessed he was a French soldier in the American Revolution.
