I was just looking at Emily Hills marriage to James Oxford and wonder why there is a Hawkins as the witness, looks like W Hawkins. If Catherine Ann Hill (nee Hawkins) is only Emily's sister in law, I wonder why one of her relatives would be the witness, surely that relation would be too distant?

I know Charles on every record I've found him in is down as occupation Stoker, on his 1st child's birth as 'Stoker at gas works' I've tried to find records for gas work companies, no luck, do you have any suggestions??
