Flash forward 5 years. I am also trying to chase down the family story of a grandmother who was Indian--probably Cherokee. My ggg grandmother was Mary Ann Hendricks born 1814 in Kentucky, married to Silas Davis Cartwright in Warren County, Il, and died in 1856 in Iowa. Her daughter, Vesta Ann married Thomas Jefferson Loftiss. If you have any further info on Mary Ann, I'd love to hear from you.
