Hi
Ebenezer Greig was a cabinet maker. He is mentioned in Charles Beadles book 'Reminiscences of a Victorian Gentleman.' Charles Beadle was a childhood friend of John Peter McMorland Greig and the latter married his sister. The book can be read on Kindle and is a good read. It also explains how when Ebenezer Greig died, John Greig inherited 'toxic' bank shares and the liability bankrupted him. Consequently he moved to the USA (settled in Pennsylvania), taking his mother (Ebenezer's wife) and a sister. John Greig returned to London and worked with Charles Beadle, his mother having died in the USA and the sister stayed (not sure which one).

According to the Beadle book, Ebenezer Greig was well respected in the city as a businessman.
