BOARDMAN – Virginia Ann Uhlar, joined her beloved husband, John in eternal life together Monday Dec. 13, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland, Ohio while surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Andrew and Anna Gmitra. A lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, she was a graduate of South High School and employed by the Sears Roebuck Company as an office clerk in the Uptown Youngstown, Ohio store, warehouse and Southern Park Mall offices, from which she retired after 25 years of service.
Virginia loved playing cards, hearing and telling jokes, knitting and traveling with her husband to many locations around the world and spending time with her family
. She was a great cook and baked some of the best cookies and kolach from scratch using recipes she had memorized and her unerring “feel” of the cookie or Kolach dough.

She married her husband, John on Aug. 7, 1948, having preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2004. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arnold Gmitra.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Jean A. (Milush) of Boardman, OH; her son, Randall J. (Debbie) Uhlar of Roswell, Ga.; her grandsons, Jeffrey M. (Eileen) Milush of San Francisco, David J. (Barbi) Milush of New Middletown, Daniel J. (Melissa) Milush of Boardman, Ross Uhlar of Roswell; her granddaughter, Maggie Uhlar of Roswell; great-grandson Daniel M. Milush of Boardman; a brother, Donald (Joann) Gmitra of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call between 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Church preceding a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Church in Boardman.
The family thanks the loving and caring staff of the Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland Reminiscence staff for the years of loving care they gave Virginia and the support they provided the family during those years.
Also, thanks to Southern Care Hospice for their care and support during the last Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home is handling arrangements. - See more at: http://www.vindy.com/news/tributes/2010/dec/15/virginia-ann-...
