My name is Jaime Gmach and I live in Minneapolis, MN USA. There are several Gmach families in this part of the United States, in fact I beleive that this was the primary imigration point for the Gmach family when my ancestors left Germany. I am beginning the process of documenting our family geneology. If you would like me to keep you informed please reply to this e-mail.

Hi Jamie,

My Maternal grandmother was Regina Gmach. Daughter of Henry and Mary Gmach. They were catholic (if that matters or helps) and appear to have come into the US and gone directly to Sheboygan Wisconsin. I think, maybe, that tradition says my Grandfather, Henry (Heinrich) came with his brother. He soon opened a Ice Cream Palor called the Betsy Ross, which evolved into a German Restraunt called Gmachs. I have some pretty neat pixs and so forth if any of this seems connected.

Jaime,

Please count me in! I'm related to the Gmachs through Regina Gmach of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I'd be happy to share what I have. rzschellekens@gmail.com

Many thanks, Robin

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread but I thought I'd add a post regardless. My maternal grandmother's maiden name is Gemach although when I search Ellis Island I find her father - Franz Haver Gmach - immigrating in 1902 from Kotzting, Germany, about ten miles from the Czech border. My family is in Pittsburgh (although I have lived in Minneapolis for about 21 years now)! I'd love to know anything more about them. Thanks, Patti Ross
