I wish to make contact with any relative of Charles O Glad, born 1879 in Stronghurst, Henderson County, Illinois and moved to Tulare, CA in 1922 with his family. His wife was Millie Peterson and they had four children. Charles is the son of Charles (Carl) August Glad, Carlson. Carl August changed his surname after coming to the US in 1872 and he was the brother to my husband's grandfather. Would love to exchange information. Twila

Hello Tom, You probably do not remember me, but I corresponded with you about a year ago in search of Charley/Charles Carlson/Glad, Charles changed his surname from Carlson to Glad upon arriving in the US from Sweden. He was the brother to my husband's grandfather, Gust Edward Carlson. Charles O. Glad of Tulare, CA is the son of Charles Glad and this Charles in indeed a brother to Gust Edward Carlson as he is named in an obituary. Briefly this is what I have found so far:
Charles Carlson b. abt 1813 in Sweden emigrated to the US I believe abt. 1875 and lived in Henderson County, Illinois. He was the father to:
1.Charles/Carl August Carlson/Glad b. Oct 5, 1844 in Sunds Parish, Linkoping, Sweden. d. 16 Feb 1920 Stonghurst, Henderson County, Illinois.
m. 1st Charlotte Aspergen in Sweden. They emigrated to the US in 1872 to Burlington, Iowa. She and two children died in the chorlea epidemic of 1873 and Charles remarried to Matilda Nelson in 1874, who also lost her husband in the same epidemic.
Child of Charles and Matilda:
Charles O. Glad b. Nov 1878 in Stronghurst, Henderson Co., Illinois d. June 1976 in Tulare, CA. (I have his obit also)
He married Millie Peterson b. abt 1885 d. Apr 1956, Tulare, CA All their children were born in Stronghurst, Henderson County, Illinois and in 1922 after the death of Charles and Matilda the Charles O. Glad family moved to CA.
Children of Charles O.
Albert
Ethlyn
Elsie married Alro Hays
Helen married Clarence Bennett
The siblings of Charles August are:
Louise Carlson b. Oct 1855 and married to William Johnson. They also lived in the same area in Illinois up to about 1900 and then lived the rest of their lives in Hillsboro, Henry County, Iowa. They had 12 children.
Gust Edward Carlson b. Feb. 8, 1859 lived Red Oak, IA
Amanda M. Carlson married John Bennington and lived in Stronghurst area and then on to Dallas City, Illinois
Hilda, I know nothing about this person yet.
All of the siblings are named in an obituary for Charles Glad and Charles Sr., Charles August, Louise and Amanda are on the 1880 census in Henderson County, Ill. I have more info on the siblings if anyone is interested. Twila

I did recognize your name after I had responded to your post. It looks like you've make some progress. Thanks, that cleared up a couple of loose Glads for me.
