I just re-discovered this post, years after the fact. At the time, I replied privately to Nelda and we carried on the discussion. I realize when I see these 2 posts online that it's fair to have a 3rd one be public. When I said I was amused by her comments, I meant that she brought up all the quirks and confusions of many online genealogy records -- women having children when they're 7 years old, people being married before they are born, women having babies far into their 60s or 70s. Nelda's research into the Gilpin family is most likely the best there is. My comment about *amusement* wasn't meant to denigrate that in any way, but to acknowledge the misinformation on the web in general.
