I believe the original gaelic way was Frazier and the change to Fraser was purely an english interpretation.
My Great Grandmother`s name was written as Fraser by the Prebyterian minister performing her marriage to John McInnes
in 1853.
I have a copy of original hand written certificate showing clearly as above yet she signed as mary Frazier.
How the reverse occurred is anybodys guess.
