Good morning,
Your post caught my attention as I'm trying to solve a family mystery. My DNA has been hitting on ancestors in Pennsylvania and I recently found a record for a James Finney who became the guardian of four children in 1754 in Lancaster County, PA. The last name of the orphans was spelled Diver, but this last name has also been spelled Dever, Devers, Divers, etc.
The record I'm referring to is in the Pennsylvania Vital Records, Vol. 1 on ancestry.com in the Orphan Court Records from Lancaster County, PA from 1754-1758, pg. 374:
"Alexander and Margaret Diver, orphan children of John Diver, deceased, chuses (chooses) James Finney as guardian. James Finney is appointed guardian over John and Charles Diver, orphan children of John Diver, deceased."
I'm wondering if this James Finney may have been one of your ancestors, and if so, do you have any further information on these children?
Thanks in advance for any information you may have.
