I am searching for Finlay Manor supposedly near Paisley. Did it really exist? My Finlay descendant was George Finlay born 1727 in Glasgow died 1805 in Dublin, Ireland. His father was Robert Finlay born 1690 in Glasgow died Paisley 1747. The story that has come down through my family is that Robert was a Glasgow merchant who exported looms into Dublin, Ireland which is why two of his sons, George & William went to live in Dublin. However when my ggg grandfather William Henry Finlay was born in 1771 he was born in a house in the Cornmarket which I think is the same house that was owned by James Finlay who was George's cousin. According to the Dublin Deed Book 221 James was living in the Cornmarket in 1720 which was the same year he left for America on the ship Eagle Wing. James surrendered the house on the Cornmarket & gave power of attorney to his brother Alexander.
