I have a bit of information about Andreas and the Civil War. He went away to war shortly after arriving in Wisconsin and never returned. Josephine also lost a son in the late 19th century and would give money to the church in Kewaskum every year for special prayers for her husband & son. Andreas was presumed deceased of course, but Josephine didn't know for sure. One day, an old man arrived in Kewaskum looking for her. When he found her, he introduced himself as a fellow soldier who fought with Andreas for the Union. Andreas was mortally wounded in battle and made the soldier promise that he would let Josephine what happened to him. It took 40 or so years, but the man kept his word.
