I'm definitely late to the party, but I read this thread and saw a lot of requests for more Ernstberger info.
My g-g-g-grandmother was Josephine Ernstberger (b. Jan 1930 in Falkenberg, Augsburg, Bavaria) and her story is kind of interesting to me...her parents (father was Walter Ernstberger) owned an inn/resort/winery in the Alpine village of Falkenberg. One of the guys who worked at the winery was a man from Oberammergau named Andreas Lang.
As the family story goes, Andreas wooed Josephine for some time until her parents found out. The parents were outraged that their daughter would fall in love with a common laborer. The young couple fled to America (Wisconsin, to be precise) and the family officially disowned Josephine. According to my father, she wrote her family several times from her new home in America, but never received a reply. Very sad.
