COLLINS, WHITNEY :
Hi. Im just getting stated with my family tree, but I have Collins in it. My Grandfather was Clyde Collins, his Parents were William ( I think his middle name was Joseph per family history) Collins , b.1868. and Mahala Catherine Ferguson Collins Carman b. 1870. married in 1894 divorced in 1899. she remarried in 1900 to Tom Carman in Fremont County Iowa. I found Clyde age 3(b-1897) living in His Grandparents home in Ponca City Ok. in 1900. Grandparents were John B Collins and Mary A. Whitney Collins. they have a boarding house there in Ponca City Ok. William is living there as well, but I cant find him(Wm) after that time. John and Mary are buried in the odd fellows cemetery in Ponca City Ok, John died in 1903 and Mary In 1907. that same time Clyde goes to live with his mother but ends up with his mothers sister, Flo. His grandmothers death is the end of any Schooling for this little boy, (Clyde) ( my Grandfather ) and he never sees his father again (per family history. it is unknown if Wm died or if he moved on with his life after his mothers death. I found through the family search site . John and Mary's wedding dates. I know they came to Ok for the land rush From Illinois. they had 12 children but by 1900 only 3 are living. if you have any joining info for this family I would love to share family history with any one relatied to the Collins. John was Born in Illinois or Ireland ( I fount it both ways, Illinois was a NO IRISH state. ( if you were Irish you had a hard time finding work and housing so many people lied about where they were born) so he may have lied about where he was born, and Mary was born in Kentucky or Ireland, again i have found her both ways.They raised their family in Illinois and movied to Ok with one son( Wm Collins) and one daughter (Louise)that i can find.
