Hello ~ I am VERY brand new to ancestry.com and don't necessarily know what I'm doing. However, I am researching (with a friend's help) of my ancestry on my mother's side. She passed away August 16, 2012. One of her quests was to unravel some hints of family mystery. As a young girl, ancestry didn't interest her, but as the years went on, she developed an interest. Only then, she said, she wished that she would've paid more attention to the stories.
This may have absolutely nothing to do with your request on the child your grandmother had -- but, with the small tidbits she had gleaned, there was a suspected illigetimate child in the Honline (I believe) family. As those things go ... way back then, things like this were swept under the rug.
My mother had, in some of her research attached the name Doughtery. She was never able to put anything together that held water -- she did not use the computer and most of her "connections" came from longggg ago.
I know I'm not giving you much to go on (which may go nowhere) but it's possible the father could've been a Honline. (?)
My grandmother was Mary Ellen Honline (m. Theodore Sanderson) and was from Highland County, Ohio. Her grandfather, I believe, was Andrew Honline (wife Ellen). I'm piecing things together myself, and am trying to fill in the blanks.
Please excuse if I am "barking up the wrong tree"! :)
