Sorry I did not reply in a timely manner, but I have just moved into my new house and then I had to take a vacation. I am just now getting around to setting up my computer and have been working off my laptop, so I thought I'd write.
My info on the Dane family started with Savages Dictionary and then to the history of the Salem Witch Trials. My info on the Daynes family started with a letter and some documents left by my husband's grandfather. From there, I got online and found some distant cousins. I am ISO Abraham Daynes of New London's father (presumed John, as his first two children are named Johanna and John). That lead me to your John Dane of Roxbury (who I thought may be Abraham's father) but I have not found info to that effect. I read the history of the Brookfield Massacre where the Hoveys lived. Daniel Hovey was the son of Rebecca (Dane) and John Hovey.
John was killed at Brookfield and I would not be surprised if Rebecca married again and had another family. Daniel I have little info about. I have a website at http://www.daynesfamilytree.com
