I finally found the "missing" 1850 Census for James H. Dabbs. He left Dekalb Co., GA and is in Chambers Co., AL in 1850. The last name was transcribed incorrectly as "Dates", therefore hasd gone unnoticed. James Samuel (b. 1840) is the son of James H. It has been speculated for a long time, but this was the missing piece with the children's names. Other records verify this information.
