Did any of your Cwik/Chciuk ancestors immigrate from Galicia to Canada? I am currently tracing a line from Lowce, Poland; they immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's. Thanks,

My mother was a Cwik, her parents immagrated to Canada in the early 1900`s . They settled in Manitoba. They talked about a village they came from , Tuchempa, Poland. I`ve never been able to find out where it was on the map. Anyone know where or what larger it is near.

I'm happy to give you the little bit of info I have on Tuczempy (misspelled a hundred different ways in a hundred different places, huh?). It is in what WAS eastern Galicia, before the partions changed after WWI; it is very close to the border of Ukraine, and the nearest major center is a city called Jaroslaw. If you GOOGLE Tuczempy, you will find it.

Can I ask where your mom settled in Manitoba (I live in Manitoba)? I am related to Cwik's but I am trying to figure out just how! It is a convoluted lineage, intermeshed with another one of my lines (Dyrkacz) and I'd appreciate any info you could share. OF course, I'll be happy to also provide you with whatever info I have.

Please feel free to email me directly at kdc1@mts.net if you'd like.

Regards,
Kim
