Dear Mr Crockett
I found a post of yours but it was 10 years ago and I don't know if I will reach you but it's worth a try. Walter Henry Crockett is my 3x great grandfather. His father John was born 1789 in Shropshire and died 1871 West Bromwich. Some believe his mother was Mary Vaughan but I'm not sure as she was born 1794, but that would make her 12yrs old when the first child Mary Ann was born. As far as I know no other child left England. I still don't know how he came to Aust. Acccording to his death cert he lived 12 years Tas and 60 yrs Vic making him 12 when he left Eng. He may have come out as a galley boy - who would know?? He is buried in Tarrawingee Vic in a family plot with his "wife" Charlotte and three other family members. The plot is not named but identified by a wrought iron fence. Some of us are trying to organize a plaque/headstone.
Hope this reaches you. I think we may have corressponded some years ago for a short time re family history.
By the way John 's wife Mary we believe died in the workhouse a few years after the death of her husband in 187
Hope to hear from you.
Cheers and Merry Christmas
