Benjamin Coward served in Co H 1st TN Infantry Regiment, age 27 at enlistment. Enlisted Aug 9, 1861 for three year period in Clinton TN. Mustered in Barboursville KY Aug 28 1861. Mustered out Nashville TN Sept 17, 1864. Military record shows no injuries or sickness. Apparently survived the war. Identified on military record as both Cowart and Coward. Benjamin identified as witness for Margaret Young Coward widows pension, he has not been identified on census data after 1860. Probably moved out of area (Anderson Co TN).

This Benjamin was son of Isaac Coward and Margaret Young. He wa Born in Anderson County TN.
