Abel Copeland was born abt 1807 in NC, went with parents thru TN to Old Sparta, Buchanan Co MO, married a lady named Piety who was also from NC. They went to Calaveras Co CA by 1860. Abel does not appear on the 1870 or 1880 census but Piety does. Abel and Piety had 4 children:Johnson, born TN abt 1833, John Bryant born TN 1835 and died bef 1900 in CA; Fannie, born abt 1837, and F Marion, born abt 1843 in MO and died after 1900 in California. He was a bartender by trade. His wife's name was Anita (various spellings).
