A cursory search of census, IGI and other records online readily located the marriage and family of Abel H. Merriam and Lucy Ann Bruce, but I find no mention of any Lucy Ann Chamberlain in this immediate family.

- Ancestry.com family tree lists Abel H. Merriam, b. 12 Nov 1796, MA, son of John Merriam (1761-1843) and Diana Hudson (1766-1843)
- Ancestry.com, Massachusetts, Marriages, 1633-1850: Lucy Ann Bruce, m. Abel H. Merriam, 5 Dec 1828, Lowell, Middlesex Co., MA
- 1850 Census, Waltham, Middlesex Co., MA, Abel H. Merriam, age 52, b. MA; Lucia A., age 44, b. MA; Amanda, age 20; Ellen M. R., age 14; 2 other persons listed
- 1860 Census, Waltham, Middlesex Co., MA, Abel Merriam, age 62; Lucy A., age 28, b. MA; Amanda W., age 28; Hellen E., age 23; John G. R., age 9; Harrison G. R., age 9; several other persons listed
- 1870 Census, Waltham, P. O. East Lexington, Middlesex Co., MA, Abel Merriam, age 73; Lucy R., age 63, b. NY
; Helen E., Merriam age 34; John G. R. Sovine Merriam, age 20

However, Abel H. Merriam, born 21 Jan 1800, in Brookline, Norfolk Co., MA, who married this same Lucy Ann Bruce, born 14 Oct 1804, on 5 Dec 1828 in Lowell, MA, is listed in my extensive genealogical records here as 1 of 4 known children of Abraham or Abel Merriam, b. 13 Mar 1775, Lexington, MA, d. 9 Dec 1827 in Brighton, MA, who was married, 23 Apr 1799 in Newton, Middlesex Co., MA, to Lucy Chamberlain, b. about 1778. She is 1 of 6 known children of Josiah Chamberlain Jr. (1751-1819) of Roxbury, MA and Marlborough, Windham Co., VT, and his wife Mary Cheney (about 1753-1842), who were married 19 Jun 1777 in Newton. The Chamberlain ancestral line of descent is listed as: Josiah (1721-1757); Jacob (1692-1771); Jacob (1658-1712); William (about 1619-1706) - one of the five original Chamberlain immigrant ancestors in early New England. Please Refer to the formally prepared Family Group Records in the website for the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society online, which can be viewed and downloaded by the public. This Lucy is identified as #LN9015 there. So, one can safely assume that this is the Lucy Ann Chamberlain mentioned in the Merriam Genealogy, though incorrectly.
