Hi Joy!!!!!
To get the info that I spoke of ....
Go to the Internet...use Alta Vista or Yahoo or your favorite spot and...call up...
Ancestry.com
(then...under that click on...)
Ancestry World Tree
Then type in who you want to find..husband and wife is the best. It's a pedigree file submitted by everybody, so some onfo may be off...but the info doesn't go beyond James Cathcart and Margaret Clark.
Have you submitted a family tree????
I have Jos. McSparren Cathcart and Amy Mae Ficken Cathcart as my 2nd great grandparents.
Do you have any Birth and Death certificates on them? I have 45 pages of info written by someone in the Cathcart family from my father back to Clark and a bit on Robert on the first page. I just have no idea who wrote it, there are some pictures, too.
The first page has Clark and Margaret McSparren at the top.He/she has........
"Clark Cathcart born March 3, 1812 in Westmoreland Co. Pa. But Marion Cathcart (Whose father was Grandpa's first cousin Grant...has it down as...Mahoning Twn (Red bank Twn.) Armstrong Co., Pa. Clark died in 1898 while dad was in the army, and is buried in Ault Cem. Roosevelt Twn., Decatur co., Ks. near the town of Norcatur or Norcaur.
His wife Margaret McSparren died when Grandpa was in the Union Army. I(the person writing this info...) didn't really listen to what grandps said about his mom because I was young Gpa. died when I was 16 years old.Grandpa told me that Clark was his Grandmom's maiden name. He also said that the Clark's who lived 3 miles northeast of him were 'some' relation but not sure what.
Clark's father was Robert Cathcart born..in 1772 in Wahoming Twn., Armstrong Co., Pa.???????????? (That's why I think Marion might have made a mistake in Clark's bithplace). His mother was Margaret Clark, Daughter of Samuel Clark. Of Robert's father we know nothing.."
There's much more but it all needs to be studied...He said Robert Cathcart and Jane Thom were born in Pa. and what I have says they were born in Ireland. But the dates seem to be correct.
Then he says that Robert had a brother James and a sister Jane...the 3 kids were raised by a sister of their mother who married a Craig...why we don't know. Robert married Jane Thom daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Craig....Family tradition has it that the Cathcart's were Scotch-Irish.(Could this last part have happened in Ireland???)
Happy hunting.
