I have a family of COLLETT'S from Kington St Michael, Wiltshire connected to a RUDMAN family -- Joseph COLLETT married to Jane RUDMAN (Sarum Marriage Licence Bond issued between Joseph COLLETT bachelor aged 20, yeoman residing at Trowbridge Wiltshire and Jane RUDMAN spinster aged 20 residing at Melksham Wiltshire - bondsman John RUDMAN yeoman of Melksham, dated 28th October 1772) marriage possibly taking place in Melksham. Children of Joseph COLLETT and Jane RUDMAN all born at Kington St Michael; Martha COLLETT, Christened 8th Jan 1784; Sarah COLLETT Christened 8th Jan 1784; John COLLETT Christened 17th Jan 1786; Hester COLLETT Christened 30th Apr 1788; Joseph COLLETT Christened 2nd Dec 1790; Stephen COLLETT Christened 1st Feb 1797.

Joseph COLLETT died at Kington St Michael Wilts on the 7th November 1809 and was buried at Kington St Michael on the 11th November 1809, Jane COLLETT nee RUDMAN died on the 15th Sep 1830 at Kington St Michael and was buried at the same place on the 23rd Sep 1830. Joseph COLLETT was described as a yeoman farmer.

Of their known children, Martha COLLETT married John STUMP at Kington St Michael Wilts on the 23rd Sep 1811, by licence. Witnesses John & Ann STUMP.

Sarah COLLETT married Joseph MATTICK at Yatton Keynell Wilts on the 22nd of Dec 1825 by licence. Witnesses John & Mary Ann COLLETT.

John COLLETT died at Kington St Michael on the 6th Mar 1791.

Hester COLLETT married Henry COLLETT at Yatton Keynell Wilts on the 27th October 1814. Witnesses William RUDMAN & Sarah COLLETT.

Joseph COLLETT married Eliza BUCKALND at Kington St Michael Wilts on the 9th May 1833 by licence. Witnesses Edwin & Ann BUCKLAND.

Stephen COLLETT married 1. Louisa (?) details unknown.
Stephen COLLETT married 2. Sophia (?) details unknown.

My connection is that my great great great grandfather William Henry COLLETT was potentially a child of Joseph COLLETT and Jane RUDMAN. He married Sarah KEARSEY and lived in Slaughterford Wilts. Two of his children John COLLETT and Mary Ann COLLETT were witnesses to the marriage of Sarah COLLETT and Joseph MATTICK. However, at this stage of my research I have not been able to make the actual link between these two families - the other problem is that I can't find the birth records for my William Henry COLLETT . He may be a cousin as I suspect is the relationship between Hester COLLETT and Henry COLLETT of Yatton Keynell. However many years later Mary Ann COLLETT'S son's wifs's cousin Rhoda HULIN is found working for a branch of BUCKLAND family of Kington St Michael in Gloucestershire.
