Sarah "Carson" McConnell b.c.1703 Scottish Highlands

Classification: Query
Surnames: Carson, Casson, Kasson, McConnell, MacConnell, Cadwell
We have a 7x-great-grandmother we aren't able to identify appropriately. We are not sure the surname of Carson is accurate, or if it is a variation of spelling, or Casson, Kasson, or otherwise. We also are not certain the locations are accurate, esp. Berwick-on-Tweed.

Family lore goes thus, written by Sarah's youngest grandson:
"My father, George McConnell, was born at Berwick on the Tweed, 1725, in Scotland. His father was William McConnell [poss 1699-1728], his grandfather was George McConnell [poss. b.1673]. My father was the only child of his parents; his father the only child of his. My father’s grandmother and his father both died of consumption before his remembrance. His mother’s name was Sarah Carson, highland lassie of great beauty whom my grandfather fell in love with and married reckless of consequences much against the will of his father, for which he was obliged to leave the paternal mansion. He then embarked in the mercantile business at Berwick where he lived happily while his health was good, and till some time after my father’s birth [poss c.1728 when George was 3y]. My father was with his mother in the highlands until he was old enough to go to school, when his grandfather took him and had him educated at the University of Edinburgh for the Kirk of Scotland."

I have DNA tested on Family Tree DNA but match no Carsons or Carson descendants. If anyone would like my file number for a 1-1 check please contact me. It is our great desire to know what Sarah McConnell's maiden name was and where she was from, if, indeed it was the Scottish Highlands. Neither do we have a date nor location of death (I wonder if she emigrated or remarried). One of this author William McConnell's daughters was named Esther Cadwell McConnell, leaving me wondering if there is any chance Sarah's maiden name was Cadwell. Thanks.
