I am looking for information on Joseph Cornelius Carmichael. He was born around 1702 and died about 1782. He married Isabella around 1727. She was born either 1707 or 1713.

They immigrated to America at some point and lived in Pennsylvania at least for a while. They had 4 children: John, James, Daniel and Mary.

It is said they were from Appin. People have connected him to John Carmichael the 1st Earl of Hyndford...but I can't find any information on him from Scotland. I would really like to make the connection of him to the Carmichael line in Lanarkshire if possible because that leads to a realtionship with Robert de Bruce and others but I just can't find him...does anyone have information?
