Thanks for replying
I have never been to either place. My grandparents were deceased before I was born in 1945.
I believe they were born 1859 or so. My grandmather's mothers name was Michele (Michala or any combination) Capobianco, she was born around 1833 and died in 1935. Her father was a Guiseppe, no dates, maybe a brother?
She ahd at least 2 brothers, Fabio (called Savob) and Michael C
They came to NYC and my grandfather, Philip Cascioli, was a tailor before he moved to Roseto PA (date unknown)
and he told all his Italian friends to come to the US and those who did worked in the Slate mines.
He died, I believe in 1928. Both are buried in NY, Calvary Cemetery)
My grandparents built a house in Roseto PA, corner of Coumbus and Garibaldi, later sold to a Falcone)
That's all I know ....other than their 6- or children, one of whom was my father (Salvatore Casciola)
If you think there is some family connections,
I'd love to read what you have gathered, especially on the Valfortore side of the world.e
Phil Casciola
