Just made dna contact with a cousin who has researched this family for years. He says my William had another son, James b. before Wm. married Mary. I just found all this out yesterday. I think James is more likely a nephew he raised.
Anyway, he says William is the son of William, son of James, son of Thomas. (Maine) but of course it's still undocumented.
