Hi Cousins! My grandfather too is Alex W. Bussey of Edgefield, SC. My dad is Marron's half-brother through Alex's 2nd marriage to Mattie. Marron was quite a bit older than the 6 kids from my Dad's group. Alex actually had 9 kids: a daughter named Helen - out of wedlock I believe; then Marron and Leon (born 1911 and 1913); then the 6 kids of which my dad is a part of.

Alex was the oldest of a large number of kids. He was born in 1887. Lots of names I can't even remember.

I visited Marron while he was living in Belvedere when I was 5 or 6 years old, many years ago. He was such a great uncle and I really enjoyed him. I remember his wife Hope, whom he was married to when he passed.

Alex founded and pastored New Canaan Baptist in NE DC, not Abyssinia. The church is still thriving in a newer building. He still has a half sister living in DC - Helen - 94 years old. Alex's parents are buried in or near the China Grove Baptist Church in Edgefield. I forget their names though.

My dad talks to Marlene pretty frequently and I saw her a few years ago in Richmond, VA.

Great sharing with you and hope to hear your story.
