According to census records Frances and Edward Burtis were both born around 1847 or 1848.

His family was in the Milk business and lived in New Rochelle, Westchester Co, NY.

Frances is burried in the Wm Gambling plot at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY. Don't have the date and I'm pretty sure Edward is not burried there.

The 1880 Census has Edward S. Burtis alone in New Rochelle. So, either Frances died or they were divorces. Perhaps she died in childbirth (total guess).

In the 1920 Census, Edward is married to Giorgiana.
