Here's some info I have on John Burke and William Sopp. (William was John's father-in-law).


5. CATHERINE BURKE (Daughter of John Burke and Ellen Cummerford). m (1) JOHN BURKE (2) WILLIAM SOPP (3) JOHN DONAHEE. Child of CATHERINE BURKE and JOHN BURKE is JOHN BOURKE, b. 1858, Cowra NSW Australia; d. 03 Jun 1932, Burnt Yards NSW Australia.

I live not far away from allthese cemteries so can get photos of headstones if you're interested. Not sure where John is buried though.

* It's this John Burke who shot William Sopp. TROVE has a number of article relating to the incident. They were drinking at a pub at Milburn Creek or Mount McDonald (can't remember off hand) and had an argument. John shot William in the knee and he would later die from the injury.

* Visit the NSW Lands Dept parish map page and search for the parish of Dunleary. See attached for Wm Sopp's 40 acres. You'll also note on this parish map (not the attached image) that Edward Burke had at least 140 acres.
