My Budd forbears are purported to hail (originally) from Devon. The earliest ancestor I've found is Richard Budd who immigrated to the United States in the 1850s or so. His son William Budd was born around 1836 in Devon.

The 1860 US Census has what I think is this family listed in Ohio:

Richard Budd 46, his wife Ann 48, William 24, a daughter whose name I cannot make out but it ends in "ia" 22, Thomas 19, Grace 16, Isaac 14, Richard Jr 11, James 8
