I would love to talk about the family and what your mom may have found in September in Zetel! My husband's family is related to the Bruning, Philippi, and Middendorf families of Bruning, Nebraska. Herman's wife is sister to my husband's great grandmother. My husband's aunt also married a Bruning. Have you done much work on the Philippi side? I'm trying to work through the story that the original Philippi family were Jews who fled Spain, one branch settling in France (and later Pennsylvania) and the other settling in Germany (and then to Illinois and Nebraska).
