My cousin did a lot of research and published a book in 1984 on our family history. She used information from the Mormon Church in Utah and traveled to the counties where they lived. She traced our ancestory back to a James Brown that married an Elizabeth in Culpepper County Virginia. James had two brothers, John and Thomas but their parents are unknown.
I took the Y-DNA test and was a 37 marker match to group 6. We haven't been able to connect their oldest known ancestors to mine yet although my James' brother John did have son's named Richard and Daniel which are the other group 6 oldest known ancestors but the ages and locations don't match.
Here is what my cousin says my Pedigree looks like.
