Hi, it's me again, Norma. As a way to say thank you for all this wonderful information, I am offering a little editing. Charles Lee Brooks who was the son of James Madison Brooks and Lucinda Gibson was my great grandfather. One of his sons was named Drayton Kirkland Brooks. He is listed as "Kirkland" on the 1900 census for Fairfield County, Township 10, South Carolina. He is the one who married Eula Harmon. Their children were:
1). Hattye Byrd Brooks b. Aug 27, 1918 and d.Aug 21, 1985. She married Lamar Killingsworth Smith
2). Drayton Kirkland Brooks jr. b. May 18, 1920 and d. Apr 15, 2004. He never married
3) Living Brooks
4) Mary Kate Brooks b. Jly 7, 1924 and d. Nov 2, 1997. She married Earl Hawthway Polson
5) Ruth E. Brooks b. Nov 23, 1926 and d. Aug 12, 2005. She married Herbert Sosbee.
6) Living Brooks
7) Lawrence Thomas Brooks b. Mar 24, 1928 and d. Jly 23, 2008
8) Barbara Andrews Brooks b. about 1940 and d.Jly 26, 2001. She married William Whitener
