Sorry about that Carol...Sir Edmund Bowyer came to America in 1607 with Captain John Smith, so he would have been born in the 1500's. We are not certain that he remained in America, since I have seen notes that he could possibly have returned to England; that the Bowyers frequently came back and forth from England to America. I have just tried doing some research for Sir William Smyth and he is listed as Smyth of Redcliff, Bucks (10 May 1661) under Smyth Baronets., and dates are born 1616 - died 1696. The fact that Sir Edmund Bowyer even had a daughter named Mary who married a Sir William Smyth, and the names of Ashe and Windham were completely unknown to me unti reading the former post. It seems as if Sir Edmund Bowyer just vanished into the mists here in America. We do have several references that Michael Bowyer, Sr. of Virginia was a descendant of Sir Edmund Bowyer, but thus far we have been unable to tie them together. Michael Bowyer was born in the late 1600's in Maryland or Virginia, wife unknown, and had up to 12 children, however only a few of them have been positively identified. His children have all been very prominent here, but we can't tie them in the proper ancestry. I hope this helps you. If you need any info, please contact me again. Thank you! Sheila Bowyer Kline
