Further to my posting of last Sept., I have some more info.
On 2nd April 1899 Francis Bowry (occupation bricklayer) witnessed his son's wedding (Charles m. Miriam Dewin) at All Soul's Church, Marylebone, London. Francis Bowry married Elizabeth Griffin on Christmas Eve 1864 at St Luke's Church St. Pancras, and his father was Samuel Bowry (occupation barman). Elizabeth's father was William Griffin (occupation cabman). Samuel Bowry married Eliza Skuse on 16th April 1843, at the parish church, Paddington, and his father was John Bowry (occupation is hard to make out but looks like "Farmer"). Eliza Skuse was a widow, and her father was Ralph Deighton (occupation painter). This last wedding gives me information on a generation further back than I previously held. I would be interested to hear if this provides any links to the land at Cheam or Lee's family records. John Bowry is my ggg-grand-father.
